Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will you help me find an agent?

A: Yes, while our writing coaches do not serve as agents (we do not personally market your work to publishers), our editing help finetunes your book so that it is ready to be submitted to either a publisher or an agent.  If you would like us to recommend agents who might potentially represent your work, please contact us at consultant@writernetwork.com.

Q: Do you guarantee my book will be published?

A: No.  A variety of factors including your content and style, as well as the current market, influence whether a book is publishable.  We will do everything we can to make sure your manuscript meets industry standards.

Q: How much will it cost me?

A: We offer affordable rates that are clearly posted on our website.  Overviews of industry expectations start at as little as .  Full blown editing reports run approximately .  If you are concerned about cost, you might consider recruiting other area writers to join you for your consultation.  If you are able to schedule five or more writers, each person's cost will be reduced by 50%.  If you schedule 10 or more, your consultation is free!  (Writing groups outside of Michigan are responsible for the travel costs incurred by the consultant.)

Q: Does my book have to be complete before I use your services?

A: Definitely not!  Consultants can work with writers who have very little on paper (Orientation Package).  Those who have as little as two to three chapters developed can get detailed proposal help via the Comprehensive Book Package.  Finally, writers who have generated a complete manuscript may have their entire manuscript thoroughly reviewed.

Q: How long does it take to get a manuscript edited?

A: Our services are generally very prompt.  You can get a projected finish date when you set up your editing.  If you need rushed service, it is available at a small additional charge.

Q: How long does it take to schedule a consultation?

A: Consultations are scheduled on a first come, first serve basis.  Depending on the location and availability of the first-time author and the consultant, consultations can sometimes be set up in as little as one week!  If you have a specific date in mind, we will do everything we can to work around it.
